Welcome to the Newman House
What is a newman center?Newman Centers are Catholic Ministry Centers recognized as part of organizations founded in non-Catholic universities around the world. The establishment of these Catholic centers were a movement inspired by the writings of Cardinal John Henry Newman; who encouraged students attending secular universities to reach God within their studies and in their campus Catholic community.
how is the csc newman house unique? The Newman House at Chadron State College is unique in that we are closely knit with our local parish, St. Patrick's Catholic Community. Since the Newman House is not a parish in itself, we celebrate mass with the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. We share a priest, masses, some service projects, and a lot more with St. Patrick's.
The Newman House is a recognized CSC student organization that is funded by the Grand Island Diocese. There are no membership requirements or special registration procedures. Anyone who wants to be part of a caring, spirit-led Christian community is more than welcome to come. You do not have to be a Catholic to attend! We emphasize the four essential of Christian spirituality: prayer, faith, action, and study. |
